Interview with quarterback Anthony Kropp

By Mark Siefert

Welcome Back to the Cougar Den!

Every single athletic team here is in full swing, with practice and games for the fall sports, while the spring sports are in there fall season getting as much outside time they can before the harsh Chicago winter comes barring down on us. It’s a fun time to be around the Shannon Athletic Center and the Outdoor Sports Center with all the athletes in great moods and spirits.

As promised, here is this week’s interview with starting quarterback Anthony Kropp. Kropp had a good past week in a blowout win of St. Francis (IL) going 17-26 for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns. He led the high-powered Cougar offense to 648 total yards, coming just 6 yards shy of their single game record of 654 total yards.

Mark Siefert: What is your daily schedule/ routine look like during the week with
practice, meetings, and class?

Anthony Kropp: Daily schedules tend to get very busy with class all morning then meetings start at 1 and go through practice which ends and about 530. Homework generally takes up most of the evenings as well.

MS: How many hours per week are you doing football related activity?

AK: Including games and traveling, I would guess around 25-30 hours with meetings, practice and games and travel times.

MS: What is your most difficult class this semester? What is your most
interesting? And why?

AK: Most difficult class would have to be one of my two accounting classes. However, they are the most interesting as well because I just added accounting as another major, but it’s more difficult because I have not had an accounting class in about a year.

MS: Do you have any interesting pre-game rituals/superstitions?

AK: I used to do many different things before games, however between our first two games my rituals were completely different so I am learning to not try to believe in superstitions.

MS: What do you like best about SXU athletics?

AK: I like spending a lot of time with my teammates and it helps get to know people in a different way. Also, when you are a freshmen, you get a head start on getting to know people. I like how everyone on the team always hangs out with each other outside of athletics.

MS: Who on your team would you call the team prankster? Any good stories?

AK: I would have to go with Pat Geary. He likes to joke and really incorporate fun with the game, which I completely agree with and he makes everyone more relaxed by joking around and having a great time!

Thanks to Anthony for taking some time out of his busy schedule to talk. Next week, I will interview senior starting goalkeeper for the Men’s Soccer team Ian Pickett, who has had some impressive victories against highly ranked teams over the past couple of weeks.

Stay classy, Cougars.
