Welcome to the place where you can read posts on what’s going on in the lives of a few of the students at Saint Xavier. My name is Anthony Maziur, but everyone from my coaches to my girlfriend’s parents calls me Maz, and I am a senior Marketing major. I am from Oak Forest, IL and have lived there my entire life. This is my fifth year of college and fifth year playing collegiate baseball. I went to Northern Illinois University for the first three years of school and was on the baseball team there. During my junior year, I needed elbow surgery and decided to transfer to SXU. I am the center fielder and captain, and couldn’t ask for a better team and coaches. From the first day I arrived, I felt like I would fit in perfectly. Now on my final year of sports and school, I finally have everything figured out….well, almost.
One thing I can tell you from my recent experience is searching for a job is a difficult for me as anything. I have searched online for countless hours and have come across some of the strangest jobs, to jobs that always have some way of me not being able to apply for, because I am still in school. I’m just trying to pay the bills! The other day I applied at Sports Authority and the online application took an hour. They had me finish the application process by giving me a lovely personality test, which contained about seven pages with the same six questions asked in a bunch of different ways. I never knew it was this difficult to work at a place like Sports Authority. All I want to do is work somewhere that I will enjoy and make some cash to cover my bills. Before that, the lady at Santos Sports Store told me I would be contacted about a job the next day, and to have my phone by me at all times because they won’t call back. Next day, no phone call. So I call and they tell me the position was filled. This is just a sliver of things one must go through to find a job.
Well, I guess I will just have to keep looking. I look forward to blogging for the rest of the year and you will never know what to expect each week. This week was an intro and venting blog I guess. See you next week!
