Finals are approaching…

By Anthony Maziur

Hi everyone, hope school is going well for all and that the finals week will not be as crammed and overloaded as mine is. I know that everyone starts to get worried come finals week or the week or so before, but the best thing to do is to not get too stressed out and try to stay organized. For a little while there, I had started to get frustrated with the amount of assignments and tests that are approaching rapidly, but the more I worried about them, the less focused I was and the less I ended up getting done in the end. I eventually got myself out of the small rut I was in and have been quite productive since. Here are a couple tips on how to limit the stress of finals week.

First, the most important thing is to be organized. Relook at the syllabus and make a separate calendar for all the assignments and tests that are coming up for the last few weeks. Then write down all the dates and what needs to be done with each task. This will help you divide up the time needed for all the tasks so you don’t have to jam everything in during one of those awful all nighters.

Second, make sure you start in advance and stay on task. Once you have everything planned out the way you want it, make sure to stick to your plan. By procrastinating or deterring from what you had wanted to accomplish, you will only bring more stress to yourself.

Last, find a little bit of time somewhere in there for “you”. Take breaks when needed since you are organized and don’t feel rushed and set aside time to watch a movie or go do something with friends. Detach yourself completely from the school work for a little while to regenerate and continue again later totally refreshed. This will help you not burn yourself out.

Well, these are just a couple tips that work for me to help get through the home stretch of the fall semester. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and best of luck with the last few weeks of class.

If you ain’t first, you’re last!
